What is our why?
The Loving Awareness Foundation was formed June 2, 2020. We named it the Spirit of Cam foundation after my son Cameron Latvala that you see here in the picture. He passed away January 29, 2018 of an accidental overdose of heroin and fentanyl. He had been struggling with a heroin addiction for quiet a long time and was about to go back into treatment to get sober. He was just 25 years old. He was so young and had his whole life ahead of him. During his time in and out of recovery he had experienced trouble with the law and homelessness. Because of this, he really wanted to do something to help those that had been down the same road he traveled. He had always wanted to start a foundation with me to bring the youth off the streets, get them some help in a treatment facility and then help them with stable housing afterward. He had been helped in his time of need and he wanted to give back. I am starting this foundation in his honor. He may not be here in the physical realm but he is here in spirit and I know he would want us to Continue with our dream. Our mission is to be a driving force for restoration of individuals lives affected by substance abuse.
